  • LHB has an exciting opportunity for an Architect seeking professional growth in design leadership. We are seeking an architect who shares our passions for craft, thoughtful detailing, client loyalty, and sustainable design to join our team. The successful candidate will develop designs and construction documents for commercial, community, and higher education projects. This role offers upward mobility for those with strong design and production skills, excellent leadership attributes with a focus on team building. If selected, you will be working with a fun team dedicated to the craft of architecture.

    Position Summary:

    The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

    • Developing and presenting design concepts
    • Creating and coordinating construction documents and specifications using LHB standards
    • Creating hand and computer-generated renderings and graphic presentations
    • Working with public and private clients on master plans, predesigns, and building condition assessments
    • Guiding clients from project inception to project closeout, including leading programming sessions and charrettes
    • Performing code analyses on a variety of construction and occupancy types
    • Assisting with early conceptual energy modeling
    • Directing internal and external consultant teams and coordinating their documents
    • Teaching, motivating, and mentoring team members
    • Construction administration experience, including site observation


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Professional architectural degree from an accredited institution
    • Licensed to practice architecture in the State of Minnesota, or willingness and ability to obtain State of Minnesota licensure
    • 5+ years’ experience
    • Thorough and well-developed knowledge of building systems and codes
    • Proficiency in Revit
    • Flexibility and willingness to work on projects outside of the assigned studio or role as needed

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Curiosity for learning, innovation, and the craft of architecture
    • Strong design portfolio with documented understanding of construction technology and process
    • Knowledge and experience with sustainable strategies and design documentation, including LEED, WELL, and B3
    • Exceptional professional verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated experience with writing studies and reports
    • Talent with graphic presentation

    • Writing sample: Provide an image of a building you admire and describe why. 500 word maximum.
